About In Love and Pain

He scoffs. "Since when does a Hijra get to attend parties?"

In a world of being used for pleasure, and destined to only one purpose of life- entertain other men. In Apa’s brothel, amidst violent customers, secret lover and emptiness, Shabnam finds comfort in only one person who is dearest above them all- her friend Rani.

Rani’s courage gives her courage, Rani’s confidence gives her confidence, Rani’s memories give her memories, but when Rani goes missing for two days, red flags light up in Shabnam’s brain. And following the letter she finds hidden in Rani’s room from her father, Shabnam sets out to bid a proper farewell to her friend before she is reunited with her family.

But will Shabnam find Rani? Or is it a trap, carefully laid out to punish the deviant ‘children’ by their beloved Apa?

The pace was great, the writing flows wonderfully and the plot is gripping enough that I had to finish the story in one go.

This book has proved people to change their mindset about transgenders.
We not only have to create opportunities for them to work among us but also have to treat them with respect which any human deserves. Atleast this is what our religion has taught us.
