About the Author
Wasiq Shahzad Kamboh was born in 2009 and raised in Lahore, Paki-stan, where his family is also based. He studies at Aitchison College and began writing his debut novel in 2021 at the age of eleven. He has lived in Pakistan his entire life, and his perspective is shaped by the textures of home, language, and place.
Urdu is his first language, and he is trilingual in Urdu, English, and Punjabi, with some Arabic. Although English is not his primary spoken language, it is his primary writing language, chosen deliberately for its reach and for the particular rhythm it gives his prose. He has always been drawn to storytelling, favoring prose while still carrying a deep appre-ciation for poetry, which he indulges in for a sizable Instagram audience too.
He comes from an academically driven household: his father holds a PhD in business management, and his mother is an FCPS consultant radiologist. He is the youngest of three brothers, with one serving in the Pakistan Army and the eldest in the Pakistan Air Force.
His debut novel is his most ambitious project to date, built as a personal culmination of the stories, themes, and interests that have shaped him. It reflects the kind of cinematic and literary experience he has al-ways wanted to find on the page, and represents the largest creative undertaking he has attempted so far.
